The Water Efficiency section – one of nine categories LEED reviews – addresses water holistically, looking at indoor use, outdoor use, specialized uses, metering and recognizes the use of non-potable and alternative water sources. Based on the number of points achieved, a project receives one of four rating levels: Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Installing Encore cisterns helps achieve a higher rating – a huge advantage as toilets are needed in all buildings anyway.
