Encore, the world’s only cistern to use condensate from air conditioning units to flush the toilet, has won another national award.

Judges of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) chose Encore for the Energy Saving Product or Innovation of the Year title in its Building Performance Awards 2019.

Held at the Grosvenor House in Park Lane, London, Encore impressed with its innovation that uses a water source that has previously been drained to waste.

Encore virtually eliminates the need to use mains water when flushing the toilet and also allows two extra BREEAM credits and LEED points to be claimed for a cistern for the first time.

The invention – created by directors of building services company the G&H Group – can be installed in new builds or retrofitted in place of a traditional cistern.

It is ideally suited to hotels, offices, apartments and any building where there are toilets and air conditioning units with the potential to save millions of litres every year.

Encore Director, David Davis, said: “CIBSE is the industry authority for building services and this award win reaffirms the importance of the product.

“All responsible businesses are trying to reduce their water consumption and all buildings need toilets so it makes perfect sense to choose a cistern that recycles a free, sustainable water source.

“Our vision is to make Encore the first choice cistern globally because it saves water and money.”
