Encore has been shortlisted for its second national clean tech title in the space of a week after being nominated in the edie Sustainability Leaders Awards.

Judges chose Encore as one of the finalists in the Sustainability Product Innovation category.

The overall winners will be announced at at a ceremony in London in January.

Encore impressed with its innovation that virtually eliminates the need to use mains water when flushing the toilet.

It follows on from Encore being shortlisted last week in the Breakthrough of the Year category of the BusinessGreen Technology Awards.

Encore Director, Graham Kelly, said: “It is great testimony to the innovation and quality of the product that we have been shortlisted for two of the leading environmental awards in the UK.

“We believe Encore will soon be used ‘as standard’ due to its water saving ability.

“Air conditioning units have a pipe that drains away all the condensate.

“Encore is the only cistern in the world that uses this free water to flush the toilet.

“When you consider how many buildings use air conditioning across the world, trillions of litres of condensate water is generated all of which has been wasted – until now.

“All buildings need toilets so why wouldn’t you use a cistern that recycles a free, sustainable water source especially when there’s a global water shortage crisis?”

In another first for cisterns, Encore allows builders, architects, consultants and specifiers to secure two extra BREEAM credits and LEED points.

Encore has been designed so it is can be installed new or retrofitted and requires the same time and skillset as conventional cisterns.
